Rumors have surfaced on social media in recent days that Brentford Arsenal could sign Ivan Toney on loan until the end of this campaign.
The Englishman was one of the best strikers in the Premier League last season. Only Erling Haaland and Harry Kane were better than Brentford, so everyone expected him to move this summer.
However, Toney was suspended for breaking the betting rules and hasn’t played a game for the Bees in months. He will not be able to return until mid-January.
Many believe he will move then, but Romano has almost ruled out the possibility of a loan move to Arsenal. He has claimed that Toney will leave Brentford for big money.
He said on Kick: “I would keep Ivan Toney’s name for Arsenal. I’ve seen some reports in the last few days – Toney is going on loan to Arsenal.
“The guys, what they have told me is that Brentford want significant money, only a significant proposal can change the story for Ivan Toney. So I don’t see a simple deal or a loan deal or anything like that. It has to be a significant offer and a significant negotiation for Ivan Toney.
“What I hear is that Arsenal value the player. Chelsea value the player but they have not started any negotiations. Chelsea are not working for Toney at the moment. He is not a priority target for Chelsea.
“What I also hear – this is more from the player’s side and the player’s camp – Ivan Toney would like very, very much to join Arsenal. He really likes the Arsenal project, Arsenal as a club, Arsenal as an environment.
“So Arsenal would be a really tempting option for Ivan Toney, who could be very keen on it.”
