Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres has been a revelation in the Portuguese league since moving to Sporting Lisbon in the summer.
The Swede has scored 17 goals and eight assists in 20 games this season. He is one of the best players in Portugal right now, so it is no surprise that he is in demand.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Gyokeres, while Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea are also said to be interested in the 25-year-old striker.
Sporting manager Ruben Amorim recently made it clear that Gyokeres will only leave if either club exercises his €100m (£86m) buyout clause.
The striker has now given his opinion on the rumors and rejected the possibility of leaving Sporting in the January window.
When asked about interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and other clubs, Gyokeres told the Record: “At the moment we were interested in making a transfer decision: ‘I am very happy here and at the moment I am not interested in any suitors.
“I enjoy every day here and I don’t think about what is happening around me. Yes, there is talk of big clubs, but at the moment it’s just news. That’s all.”
Gjoker was then asked if he could promise not to leave in January. The striker replied, “Yes. I want to stay here.”
Arsenal’s January signing of Gyokeres was always unlikely.

Spending £86 million on Gyokeres just six months later was always unrealistic and now that the player himself has promised not to leave in January, Arsenal fans should stop dreaming.
