Deal getting closer as Arsenal prepared to activate €60 million buy-out clause for midfielder as agent held face-to-face meeting with Mikel Arteta in London

Arsenal are ready to meet a clause to secure Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Gunners have also held talks with the representative of Everton star Amadou Onana during the current transfer window in an attempt to sign a new center forward.

Martin Zubimendi, who has long been a target for Arsenal, has reportedly attracted interest from clubs willing to pay his buyout clause, including the Gunners, according to Mundo Deportivo. Arsenal are ready to offer €60 million as early as this month. However, a possible deal depends on the player’s decision, as Zubimendi has shown his reluctance to leave Real Sociedad.

Last summer, Zubimendi had a similar attitude and claimed that he had no intention of leaving Real Sociedad. The midfielder stressed that he is determined to stay after being given the opportunity to play Champions League football at his home club.

Real Sociedad’s qualification for the Champions League round of 16 is a further challenge for Arsenal to convince Zubimendi to move.

The central midfielder’s relentless work rate is considered a major asset. Reports suggest he could be signed for €60 million and Arsenal may consider proposing a loan deal with a buy-back obligation to facilitate the transfer.
