Thomas Müller reacts to Arsenal’s draw with Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League
The German giants have recorded some memorable defeats against Arsenal in recent years, celebrating a 10-2 victory over the Gunners in the 2016/17 season.
Now, however, Arsenal are a different animal as Mikel Arteta has transformed north London into a real force, a fact recognised by Muller as he reacted to the draw, which sent a message to his £65million compatriot.
The German international wrote in an Instagram video: “Well, it’s Arsenal! Kai Havertz – my friend – I’ve been waiting for you. No, it’s a good draw, two very good teams, two very good stadiums, two very good cities. It will be tough, but I’m always positive. See you, Gunners.”
Bayern Munich qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League after a 3-1 victory over Lazio in the last 16 after two rounds. Two goals were scored by Harry Kane and one by Muller.
Mikel Arteta will be cautious
Arteta is likely to be confident of Arsenal’s chances of reaching the semi-finals, although the Spaniard will certainly be wary of Muller and Kane.
The latter has scored 14 goals in just 19 appearances against Arsenal in his career.
Kane has also scored 36 goals in just 34 games this season, so William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes will certainly have to keep an eye on him.
