Just in – Real Madrid President Florentino Perez  willing to pay €90 million for Brazilian Arsenal star

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in 26-year-old Brazilian international Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal.

According to Spanish newspaper Fichajes, Real Madrid are interested in Gabriel Jesus. The Spanish giants were keen to sign the 26-year-old Arsenal midfielder before he moved from Manchester City to the Emirates, but have revived their interest in him ahead of the 2024 summer transfer deadline.

Gabriel Jesus has enjoyed a breakneck development since arriving in England almost seven years ago. The Brazilian international was a highly rated striker when he played for Palmeiras, but he has not been a success in the Premier League. However, that didn’t stop Arsenal from spending more than €50 million to sign him for the 2022/23 season.

Jesus recently said that scoring goals is not his “strong suit”, which drew criticism from fans and pundits alike. But despite his apparent shortcomings, the former Manchester City striker remains popular with potential fans. His market value has since risen to €75 million and Real Madrid are also interested in him.

Real Madrid were already interested in Jesús before his departure to Arsenal as Carlo Ancelotti admired him. However, the transfer did not materialise as the Gunners lured him from Manchester City instead. However, Real Madrid’s interest in the 26-year-old has not waned, despite his lack of success in the final third.

Real Madrid did not sign a replacement for Karim Benzema when the Frenchman joined Al Ittihad last summer. Therefore, it is decent that they invest in a striker, even if he is not clinical and productive. Moreover, Kylian Mbappe is no longer on their radar, so the Merengues need to find an alternative.

Gabriel Jesus has thus become a target for Real Madrid. However, signing the 26-year-old Arsenal midfielder will be a major challenge given his importance in Mikel Arteta’s plans. It will therefore be interesting to see if the move materialises next year.
