Tottenham Hotspur are in talks to sign a £60m player similar to Manchester City striker Phil Foden, according to a recent report.

Spurs finished the Premier League season in fifth place and there were clear signs of progress in Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge.

Now the Australian coach and his club bosses will be preparing for the summer transfer window which is fast approaching.

In connection with this, they seem to have already identified a target and started talking.

Tottenham Hotspur in talks to sign Georgi Sudakov

Tottenham are in talks to sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgi Sudakov, according to the Daily Express.

Chelsea are also said to be interested in the 21-year-old, who has been compared to City’s Foden.

North London rivals Arsenal were previously interested in Sudakov, but Spurs appear to have stolen his signature.

Shakhtar rejected a £34m bid from Napoli during the winter window and are not expected to agree a sale before the European Championships, when his price could rise.

Sudakov is believed to be valued at around £60m.

Georgiy Sudakov statistics

The two-legged teammate has scored ten assists and six goal-scoring passes, playing as a number 10, number 8 and even as a left midfielder in the last period.

According to FBref, Sudakov ranks among the top 14% in unpenalised xG and the top 20% in progressive transfers compared to his peers in the five major leagues.

In addition, he is among the top 23% in shot creation actions, proving his outstanding playmaking ability.

If Spurs sign him in the summer, they will get a very creative central midfielder.
