Arsenal missed the chance to close the gap on Manchester City today as they drew with Liverpool despite leading the game going into the final ten minutes.

Mikel Merino’s first Arsenal goal looked like it had won the game for the Gunners but they allowed Liverpool to come back at them and Mohamed Salah scored a fine equaliser.

Arne Slot’s side got the draw despite Jamie Carragher suggesting Liverpool were actually disappointing on the day.

For Arsenal, it was a bitterly disappointing end to the game after they’d dealt with the injury to Gabriel, it was a kick in the teeth to concede.

And according to former striker Ian Wright, the goal for Liverpool was just what Arsenal deserved.

Ian Wright says Arsenal played like they had ten men against Liverpool
Speaking on the game for Premier League Productions, Wright offered up his immediate thoughts on the Arsenal performance and in the main, was disappointed with the second half.

“Arsenal will probably be a little bit disappointed. Going into the game, with the players that are missing, I thought they started it very well, but when they got into a situation where they were 2-1 up, they played like they were down to 10 men,” Wright said.

“They invited Liverpool on a bit. If you give them the capability and the time then they’ll probably punish you and that’s what they did.”
