🚨 Official: Paul Mitchell to depart Newcastle United at the end of the season 📰 see reason why see more…
Newcastle United have confirmed that Sporting Director Paul Mitchell will step down from his role by mutual agreement at the end of June 2025.
🖤🤍 Mitchell came on board in July 2024, reuniting with club CEO Darren Eales, who originally brought him to Tottenham back in 2014.
📢 In a statement, the club reflected on his impact:
“Under Paul’s leadership as Sporting Director, the club ended a 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy with Carabao Cup success in March 2025 and also qualified for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League.”
With Eales also preparing to leave his role due to health reasons, Mitchell has decided the time is right to move on.
Paul Mitchell said:
“I want to thank everyone at Newcastle United – from Eddie Howe and Becky Langley to the players, staff, owners and fans – for their incredible support this past year.
It’s been a privilege to be part of the club and to work alongside such talented people.”
“As Darren Eales, someone I’ve worked closely with for years, prepares to step away, I feel this is also the right moment for me to go.
Newcastle United is in an excellent place, on and off the pitch, and I’m confident it will keep growing stronger.”
“I wish everyone connected to this amazing club all the very best for the future.”
📝 The club added:
“Paul leaves with our heartfelt thanks. The Board is extremely grateful for his professionalism and dedication.”
