Armstrong made 15 appearances during his short spell with Derby, scoring once — but it was his all-round contribution that made the biggest impact. Everton manager David Moyes has publicly praised the young midfielder, highlighting the strides Armstrong has made while away from Goodison Park.
“He’s back a different player because he’s probably got 25 Championship games under his belt for a young boy, which is very good,” Moyes said, speaking shortly after Armstrong’s return. “The experience at Derby has clearly helped him grow.”
That growth has not gone unnoticed within the Everton camp. The midfielder, who has also featured for England at under-18 level, is considered one of the brightest prospects in Everton’s youth system. Club officials, including Moyes, are reportedly in agreement that Armstrong has what it takes to break into the senior setup in the near future.
Further cementing Everton’s faith in the teenager, Armstrong signed a new long-term contract with the Toffees in February, tying him to the club until 2028. The deal is a clear indicator of the club’s belief in his potential and commitment to his development.
