Newcastle United have parted company with Lloyd Kelly but the transfer to Juventus could take another twist
Lloyd Kelly’s future remains up in the air – despite Newcastle United’s statement confirming that the player has joined Juventus on a permanent deal.
The defender moved to Italy in January, initially on loan but with the deal to be made permanent at the end of the season if certain obligations were met.
They were believed to include one based on the number of appearances Kelly made for Juve, and also their qualification for Europe. As it was, Kelly played 14 times despite suffering a thigh injury, while the Old Lady eventually finished fourth to sneak Champions League qualification ahead of Roma.
They said: “Lloyd Kelly’s loan move to Juventus will become a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee on 30th June.”
However, fresh reports from Italy claim that Kelly’s stay at Juventus could be shortlived, with the Italian giants looking to do a quick U-turn on the player and offload the former Bournemouth defender at the first possible opportunity.
