Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as Reds at risk of losing out in race for Botafogo defender Jair Cunha

Nottingham Forest’s proposed swoop for Botafogo defender Jair Cunha has been thrown into doubt.

Reports suggest the Reds hopes of signing the centre-back are in the balance. And it could be they get pipped to his signature by other clubs now said to be eyeing him up

Forest originally had their eye on a triple transfer deal with the Brazilian outfit. Striker Igor Jesus and full-back Cuiabano were also in line for moves to the City Ground, along with Jair.

Botafogo owner John Textor said last week only. Jesus and Jair were in talks with the Reds. There was still uncertainty about Cuiabano’s future, with Brighton and Hove Albion keen on snapping him up.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently declared deals for Jair and Jesus to join Forest after the Club World Cup “sealed”. But it seems everything is not quite done and dusted where the former is concerned.

According to Brazilian radio station Tupi, Jair’s agent has indicated negotiations with the Reds
