⚽ James Tarkowski Admits Fear Ahead of West Ham Clash – But It’s Not Bowen or Paquetá
Everton’s defensive leader James Tarkowski has made a surprising admission ahead of Sunday’s Premier League showdown against West Ham United.
Speaking to reporters in the build-up to the crucial fixture, Tarkowski confessed that he is “genuinely worried” about facing one particular Hammers player – and it’s not the usual suspects Jarrod Bowen or Lucas Paquetá.
Instead, the Toffees centre-back singled out Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville as the man who makes him uneasy.
“Facing him Sunday is not going to be an easy task for me. I’m really scared of him,” Tarkowski admitted. “His pace, his dribbling, and the way he can turn a defender inside out – it’s not something you can prepare for easily.”
Summerville, who joined West Ham after his breakout spell at Leeds United, has quickly become a fan favourite at the London Stadium with his flair, speed, and eye for goal. His ability to create something out of nothing has already caused plenty of problems for defenders this season.
Tarkowski, one of the Premier League’s most experienced centre-backs, stressed that Everton will need to be fully alert to stop Summerville from deciding the game.
“We know about Bowen and Paquetá – everyone does – but Summerville is the one that keeps you awake the night before. He’s unpredictable. You think you’ve got him, then he’s gone. That’s why I respect him so much.”
Sunday’s clash is expected to be a heated battle as both sides look to strengthen their positions in the league. With Tarkowski openly admitting his nerves, all eyes will now be on Summerville to see if he can justify the defender’s fears and make the difference for West Ham.
