AFC Bournemouth’s Julio Soler has captained Argentina into the last eight of the FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
The full-back played 90 minutes for his nation, as they recorded a 4-0 victory over Nigeria in the last 16 at Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos in Chile.
Maher Carrizo struck a double for Argentina either side of the interval, those goals were sandwiched between Alejo Sarco’s second-minute opener and a strike from Mateo Silvetti.
Victory meant six-time winners Argentina progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition, where they will face Mexico on Sunday (midnight UK time).
They have won all four of their games in the tournament and have now kept back-to-back clean sheets.
Soler joined up with the squad following his involvement in AFC Bournemouth’s Premier League game at Leeds United last month.
He has since started all three games of the tournement, against Australia, Italy and Nigeria.
