Newcastle United issue injury statement to offer update on three players 

Eddie Howe is hoping to have his two stars

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has delivered two key updates on the injury front as he looks to welcome back Yoane Wissa and Lewis Hall.

The DR Congo international is yet to kick a ball for the Magpies while Hall was injured in the 4-0 win over Union SG after suffering a hamstring problem. Hall missed the 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest but could be back before the next international break.

Speaking at his Press conference ahead of the long trip to Brighton, Howe said: “The second scan was good news. There was a different scale, we hope he will be back before this international break. We hope he does not suffer ill effects.

“From the first scan, that did not look possible, so good news. It has been difficult for him because he is very motivated to play. He wants to do really well and has big aims.
“I think this is a really minor injury, it may serve as a good thing as it will let other issues settle down.”

Wissa was due to be back for the trip to Brighton this week after enduring a knee injury but suffered a setback. Howe said on October 3 that Wissa would be out for eight weeks.
But he has suffered no fresh setbacks since, Howe said: “We have seen him back on the grass for the first time which is great to see, it is now a case of stepping him up gradually. In terms of timelines, it is similar to what I’ve said – nothing has changed.”
Howe had said before the international break on Wissa: “Yoane saw a specialist again yesterday for a check-up on his knee. We probably think now it’ll be eight weeks rather than six. No recurrence or problem, just slightly longer.”

Howe also offered an update on Tino Livramento after he was taken off against Arsenal: “He is out the brace he was in and every time I speak to him he seems positive about his return. There’s not massive changes in the timescale he was given but he is going about his recovery well.”
Newcastle travel to Brighton tomorrow with the corresponding fixture ending in a 1-1 draw last term which helped take United to the Champions League.
Speaking on the trip to Brighton, Howe said: “When you look back now you see that point was a frustrating one on the day but turned out to be really valuable. We always have tough games against them and they are well coached.”
