“I want to play champions league”: 13-goals Player breaks silence on Arsenal transfer with striker stunned by £55 million Gunners interest

ARSENAL transfer target Borja Mayoral has broken his silence over interest from the Gunners.

This week we revealed that the north London club have offered Getafe £22 million for the striker.

The 26-year-old is in great form this season and only Real Madrid’s English superstar Jude Bellingham has scored more LaLiga goals than him.

Mayoral has netted 12 times in Ligue 1 and scored two goals in the Copa del Rey.

The former Madrid academy player plays alongside Mason Greenwood at Getafe and has been closely watched by Arsenal since November.

This form could lead to a move to the Emirates, as Mikel Arteta is looking to sign a new striker this month after ruling himself out of the purchase of Ivan Toney from Brentford.

But Mayoral has now spoken for the first time since we broke the news of Arsenal’s bid.

He admitted that he was “surprised” by the interest from England and claimed that he is only focused on continuing to work for his current team.

He told Mediaset: “This is news that surprised me too. I have not spoken to the club or my agent.

“Every day I am very focused on Getafe.”

Arsenal are not the only Premier League team to want Mayoral, as he was also announced as a Brentford target last month, while Fulham have also been linked with him.

SunSport has learned that the Gunners have offered £22 million for him to outbid their rivals.

However, Getafe rejected their first offer and are asking for £39 million for their star player.

Mayoral has a strong partnership with Greenwood, who is on loan at Manchester United, as they have already scored three goals together.

The ace moved permanently to the deep blue in 2022 after an initial loan period, having made just 22 LaLiga appearances for the Madrid team, scoring three goals.
