Arsenal working to submit formal bid for summer target after agreeing personal terms with £45m player

Arsenal are reportedly taking ‘concrete steps’ to secure the signing of Fenerbahce defender Ferdi Kadioglu this summer, according to Turkish outlet Milliyet. The Gunners have been heavily linked with the Turkey international in recent weeks, with discussions over personal terms already underway.

Milliyet reveals that an agreement has been reached with Kadioglu and his agent. Arsenal are expected to begin negotiations with Fenerbahce shortly to finalise the transfer fee. The report indicates that Mikel Arteta’s side will need at least £17 million to sign Kadioglu, though another source, Takvim, suggests that Fenerbahce are seeking £26 million for the defender.

The 24-year-old Kadioglu began his career as an attacking midfielder and right winger before transitioning to the right-back position. More recently, he has established himself as a left-back, showcasing his versatility and skill.

The right-footed defender has impressed with his ability to invert and deliver line-breaking passes, contributing to eight goals in 42 appearances from the left-back position this season.

Kadioglu has also been noted for his defensive prowess, averaging six duels won per game, alongside two tackles and nearly seven recoveries. Additionally, he has successfully completed 62 percent of his dribbles. His balanced playstyle in both attack and defence makes him an ideal candidate for Arsenal’s left-back role.

Arsenal current left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko may be the one to make way for Kadioglu’s arrival. Zinchenko had a challenging second half of the season, often finding himself as the third-choice left-back behind Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jakub Kiwior due to his tendency to lose possession cheaply. His performances fell short compared to his impressive debut campaign, raising questions about his future at the club.

With Jurrien Timber, who spent most of the season injured, also capable of playing as a left-back, Arsenal have a range of options. The potential acquisition of Kadioglu could provide the balance and stability needed in Arsenal’s defence as they prepare for the upcoming season.
