His final touch for Sunderland was a BIG one, match winner wave in style the FANS are not pleased with that

As far as final acts go, few will ever live up to Tommy Watson’s in a Sunderland shirt.

Having already agreed to join Brighton this summer, the 19-year-old hasn’t had it easy in recent weeks, and has had to overcome being booed by some of his own supporters as manager Regis Le Bris showed faith in him despite his transfer decision

He put all that behind him and etched his name into Sunderland folklore on Saturday though, as he scored a stoppage-time winner to fire the club back to the Premier League. His late goal sealed a 2-1 win for the Black Cats in the play-off final over Sheffield United. Such were his emotions after the game, he dropped an F-bomb live on air, forcing Sky Sports to have to apologise.

“That story was written for me coming off the bench. I got closed down, saw the little gap and just used the defender to put it straight in the bottom corner. I couldn’t have pictured it any better.”

While Watson was able to be part of the celebrations for the promotion he ultimately made, he won’t be around much longer to enjoy the reward his goal brings. He will be a Premier League player next season though and with his Brighton move in mind, he added: “We’ll see each other in the Premier League next year; in the big time!”
