‘Negotiations underway’- Sheffield United player more tempted to join Leeds United than Champions League club

PSV Eindhoven will face competition from Leeds United to sign Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer this summer, according to SoccerNews.nl.

The Dutch champions have identified the 28-year-old as a target to replace Malik Tilman. Last week, Eindhovens Dagblad stated they are enthusiastic about a move for him.

Journalist Rik Elfrink covered this report, and he stated the Sheffield United player is open to joining PSV.

SoccerNews.nl state that isn’t the case, but PSV are keen on signing the midfielder. The chance of the Hamer leaving Sheffield United and moving to Eindhoven is ‘not very big’.

That’s because Hamer is tempted by a switch to the Premier League, where Leeds are his interested party. The Whites secured a promotion to the top flight, while the Blades narrowly missed out, after losing the Championship playoff final to Sunderland.

It’s claimed Daniel Farke’s side want to sign the 28-year-old.

Hamer can play in the Champions League with the Dutch club, who have qualified for the group stage after winning the Eredivisie last season. However, he’s leaning towards the Premier League, and this gives Leeds an advantage over PSV to secure his services.

The midfielder’s contract at Sheffield United expires in 2027.
