It’s only two SILLY mistakes but fans are not happy

Nottingham Forest suffered a 3-2 defeat to Swansea City on Wednesday evening.

Ange Postecoglou has now lost back-to-back games as Nottingham Forest manager, having lost 3-0 to Arsenal.

Many of the summer signings were given their full debut, and Dilane Bakwa was one who really impressed Forest fans.

Douglas Luiz was handed his first minutes since joining from Juventus, and here is how supporters reacted to his performance in South Wales.

Nottingham Forest fans react to Douglas Luiz debut vs Swansea

Luiz started alongside Ryan Yates in midfield and played just over an hour before being taken off for Morgan Gibbs-White.

Fans were blown away by his debut despite the disappointing result, as they took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their verdicts.

@NeilWells82 posted: “I wondered how Douglas Luiz would come out tonight. Slow? Sharp? Indifferent? He’s been eager from the off! Wants the ball, closing opponents down, comfortable on the ball. Still the player I hoped he was. Class.”

“Don’t think it will be too long before Luiz/Ando will be the CMs. Especially if Zinchenko is playing. When Zinchenko inverts, Ando and Luiz are much more comfortable pushing higher than Sangare is,” @AnalyticsForest commented.

“Sangare fans can give it a rest now Douglas Luiz is a different class,” @liamkeane88 said.

@pearsanio added: “Zinchenko and Luiz walk straight into the 11 can tell they are a level above.”

Douglas Luiz stats vs Swansea City

Luiz is so well-suited to Postcoglou’s possession-based style of play, and that was certainly evident against the Swans.

The Brazil international ran the midfield and actually made one key pass, so that suggests he was well worth an assist.

Luiz’s performance will certainly give Postecoglou a lot to think about ahead of the trip to newly-promoted Burnley this weekend.

Either way, it’s pretty evident he will become a regular in the short to medium term, it’s just about getting up to full fitness.
