Arsenal given ‘green light’ by agent to sign striker if they’re willing to pay £89 million fee

Arsenal and Chelsea have been assured that Victor Osimhen will not disappoint them in the Premier League. The 24-year-old striker has been strongly linked with a move to the English top flight for some time after his impressive performances at Napoli.

Football.london has learned that the Blues wanted to sign Osimhen in the summer, but the Azzurri were determined to keep their goal scorer, so they signed Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal instead. It is believed that the west Londoners were looking at the Nigerian international as someone who could change the club’s fortunes in front of goal, but with no Champions League qualification, any attempt to sign him has proved difficult.

Although Chelsea are still far from the top four, they are still interested in Osimhen, according to Football.london. However, a January move seems unlikely as the Nigerian is expected to sign a one-year contract extension at the Diego Maradona Stadium.

The Blues’ reluctance to bid for Osimhen has left the door open for their Premier League rivals to make a bid of their own. We won’t see whether Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United will fight Chelsea for his signature, but all have been informed that he would be an excellent signing.

Calvin Bassey, in an interview with The Athletic, said that Osimhen would suit the English top flight. The Fulham defender has played seven times for Nigeria alongside the Napoli striker and has only lost once.

“He’s a real joke – the only striker I know who can lead the back line on his own,” said Bassey. “He can run in behind, he can head, he can finish, he can do everything. The Prem would suit him. I hope he comes at some point, but I’d rather have him in my team than against him!”

Osimhen has made 13 Serie A appearances for Gli Azzurri this season, scoring seven goals and providing two assists. John Obi Mikel has encouraged his compatriot to try out for the Premier League as he continues to establish himself as one of the best strikers in the world.

In his podcast, The Obi One Podcast, the former Chelsea midfielder said: “The former Chelsea midfielder said: “I hope he comes to Chelsea. It sounds like he’s probably a big United fan. I hope he comes to Chelsea.”

However, it will ultimately be up to Mauricio Pochettino whether or not the Blues sign a new striker next month. When asked if he would recommend anyone to the senior managers at Stamford Bridge, the former Tottenham boss replied: “My previous experience in different clubs, you know very well that I don’t always try to give the best advice or the best opinion to a club.

“I am a manager who always likes to work with the club, the sporting directors, the owners and of course the players. The most important thing in football is the players, but you always have to talk through everything, analyze it and make the best decision for the club.

“It is always about, I repeat in many experiences in the past, that the clubs and the players will decide. If something needs to be added, we do it together, in a way that we make the best decision for the club.”
