Arsenal named as ‘most likely’ club to sign Newcastle United star for £80m

Arsenal are likely to sign Newcastle United striker Alexandre Isak this summer, according to transfer expert Dean Jones.

The Gunners are looking to strengthen their front line with a goal-scoring striker as a priority in the next transfer window.

Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen are two of a number of strikers who have recently been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have other targets in mind
The Brentford and Napoli strikers are not Arsenal’s first choice, however, as Mikel Arteta reportedly wants to sign a flexible striker rather than a natural centre-forward to improve his attack.

Recently, Victor Gyokeres has become a realistic option, but it seems they are also considering Isak.

Jones has now revealed to GiveMeSport that with Newcastle’s slim chances of qualifying for next year’s Champions League, the Magpies may have to release some of their best players as they want to be involved in the competition, and Isak could be one of them.

If the Swedish international leaves St James’ Park before the start of next season, he will “probably” sign for Arsenal, according to a reporter.

Isak could be the striker Arsenal need

Jones adds that although Newcastle would prefer not to sell him, they could ask for a price of around £80m if forced to sell.

Arsenal will have to spend a significant amount of money to lure the striker to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

The 24-year-old had a fantastic first season in the Premier League last season after joining the Strikers from Real Sociedad.

He has scored 12 goals in 20 league games this season and continues to put in outstanding performances.
